In the Grim Darkness of the 41st Milennium...

... there will be only War.
No wonder these guys look peeved.

What, they ask, about social policy? Housing? Rental support? Gays in the Military? Legalising Black Lotus?

Two of the most fiddly miniatures I've ever painted, I'd think, especially after someone* dropped a load of orange-juice over them!

These are veterans of the Tyranid War. They look jolly tough. I'm thinking of sprinkling a few of them among my tactical squads.

According to the new Codex Space Marines fluff, as Ultramarines they are the best marines ever and no-one can kill them and all other Space Marines wish they were Ultramarines, too. And the Index Astartes (which all Marines should be following - otherwise they are not allowed to game in the Emperor's stores) was written by their Primarch who was apparrently such a strategical genius that he managed to be far from the centre of the action during the Horus Heresy. That's how good he was!**

*You know who you are.
**Tongue firmly in cheek.

Somewhere in one of my boxes of figures I have a Blood Angels army.

Of course it is from an older version of 40K , , , I haven't kept up so I don't even know what the current version is.

Still I like the look of red figures (without a lot of fiddly stuff) better than dark blue ones . . . hmmm, maybe that's why I've based my Saxe-Bearstein army on Hannover instead of Prussia.

Have fun, Greg.

It's sad how all other chapters no longer have the self-confidence to stand on their own and now all have to be Ultramarine wannabees.

Only natural, I s'pose!

I've got quite a few of the older metal space marines - say from the mid-1990s. Much nicer than the current plastics which take a ridiculous amount of fiddling about to paint.

Regards,

Greg

Hi Greg,

For all the "fiddliness" (Is that even a word?), they do look impressive! Perhaps a special campaign badge is in order? Something along the lines of an orange raindrop on the back of their helmets, indicating that they are survivors of the Great Orange Juice Mega-Deluge?

Yours,

Martin

Ha! Martin, that may just do, I think.

There are a few veteran survivors of the mysterious "Orange Rain" of 08.M42.

They wear their badge with pride, even while they continue to fight on with shoddy, government-issue prostheses.
