Gunners

It was common practice to borrow infantry from their parent regiments to serve the battalion
guns with the aid of a few artillery-men.
I've decided to pick up on this by painting a few of my gunners in the uniforms of one of my French infantry regiments - Languedoc if memory serves. Obviously they are not serving a little battalion piece here, but a monster siege piece.
Note that the gunners are doing the things that require artillery skills whilst the infantry are providing the brute labour!
Gunners are by RSM, the gun is a Willie/Suren.
Anyone have any Willie Artillery they'd like to part with? The Gallispans are in dire need. Seriously.

Hi Greg,

Your RSM figures and the Willie siege gun go well together. The gaiter buttons look good too! ;-)

Best Regards,

Stokes

Greg: use the Elite Miniatures SYW French guns. They are beauties!!! See my recent blog on the Stadden AWI artillery crew. The cannon in the picture is from Elite. I recall that there is a distributor in Australia, so you might be able to get them fast. The 12pdr looks to be the size of the Willie gun. My recollection is that Willie range didn't have much in the way of artillery.

Well, then. . . you should get them! You know, you just can't beat read gun carriages with black metal parts.

Best Regards,

Stokes

No not too much artilley - but you have to buy gunners plus the gun, not just the gun on it's own :^(

I'll see what Elite can do for me.

Stokes: you are right, of course!

Thanks guys.

I want to see better pics of the gaiter buttons! ;-)

But seriously (sort of, we're talking toy soldiers here after all!), looking good.

*sigh*,

Greg, I don't think that the gaiter buttonholes are of the correct length . . . not at all.

You will have to re-do everything, of course.

(I hope that you know I'm joking.)

Isn't there a German word meaning something like "gaiter duty"?

;^)
