I've just finished off my third Sword and the Flame Unit of Victorian/Imperial infantry. I'm on target to polish them off entirely over the nect few weeks. I'm painting a couple more of the Victorian Cavalry at the moment, and have started work on my allotted buildings.
More updates in the near furture.

Earlier this evening I was working on a couple of units of Bengal Lancers (18th and 19th) for my Colonial project.

Very nicely done work on the cap.

Nicely done. I notice that this figure and some of your other Colonial figures have quite a glossy finish. Is this the final version? Personally I like a glossy look...

Yes, I use a gloss varnish because I feel it's quite hard-wearing. I have tried using a satin varnish over the top of that to take the extreme shine off. Flash photography in the evening seems to put it right back on, though.
I really ought to try and get a bit more daytime shooting done.
Jim - thanks, the hat took a fair while to get "just right". I am still getting used to the qualities of GreenStuff and am always looking to improve my technique.
Jeff, what unit-sizes are you building up to?
Greg,
To start with, I'm painting 10-man units. So far for infantry I've painted 60 Sepoys, 30 Egyptians, 30 Sudanese, 40 Pathan Jezails, 40 Pathan Swords. I've got about 90 Zulus primed, but unpainted.
For mounted units, I've 10 Arab Camelmen and 10 Egyptian Lancers. I've almost finished the 20 Bengal Lancers and I'm more than halfway on 10 Guides.
In addition, I've got some artillerymen and various guns plus a number of British Officers (both mounted and afoot).
I'm debating doubling the size of units to the "Sword and Flame" standard of 20 . . . but I'm not sure that I'll do that.

Hello Greg,
Nice work on the hat and a crisp paint job. The glossy finish looks great too!
Best Regards,

Hi Greg,
Glad to see that you have gotten over your "Painter's Anxiety Syndrome"! That is one impressive miniature. I can't wait to see him at the head of his valient troopies.
Yours,
Martin
Thanks to everyone for their very kind comments.
Jeff - I've read many comments on the Colonial Wars Yahoo Group about using hal-size units with TSatF. Shouldn't be an issue. I have to ask - have I seen you being active on the League of Augsburg message boards? I've been loitering with intent ever since I got my hands on a copy of Beneath the Lily Banner a couple of weeks ago.
Oh, and did I mention I bought a couple of "Battalion Packs" of Front Rank (treason!) Marlburian Austrians?
