I'm thinking seriously of painting some of the lovely RSM cossacks in similarly coloured uniforms and brigading them together to make a version of the Legion de Saxe; or a Legion de Horne as the mood takes me together with some fusiliers, a few grenadiers and a gun or two were I to fall into "imagination" mode. Certainly reading my copy of Wargaming in History has piqued my interest in that direction.
I may have mentioned already, but I expect sufficent deliveries in the next week or two to let me finish off La Reine and Royal Pologne in pretty short order. In the meantime I am painting up figures to complete the first squadron of the Royal-Cravattes.
Got any old RSM Cavalry you no longer want or need? Drop me a line at bloggeratorATgmailDOTcom.

Old School eye-candy at its best - compliments!
The lack of trumpeter in Grant's cavalry TOE is indeed deplorable, but easily corrected.
I *hope* you'll fall into "imagination" mode: mixed Legions are specially propitious.

beautiful unit...I've been wanting to try a unit using those RSM "legs outstretched" galloping horses...they look formidable on the table!

A very good-looking unit - they really seem to mean business! I can just see any enemy recoiling in terror as they advance... :-)
Cheers,

Hello there Greg,
A lovely looking unit there. I especially like the browns on the horses. I too am a fan of the galloping RSM horses and will add more to my collection before long.
Glad to see you back in the painting saddle by the way! ;-)
Best regards,
Stokes
Can't wait to see your Legion de Saxe when fully assembled. I never really liked the charging RSM horse when used with others horses in the same unit, but used as charging unit they are very impressive. I think I have just enough to give them a try. Thanks for the inspiration...
Nicely painted unit - good to see your back at the paint desk.
