New Recruits. Breakers of the peace beware!

Alzheim troops experiment with the newfangled three-deep firing line while the Grenadier Company of the Languedoc Regiment practices it's bayonet drill.
Some of the men appear to be training in their waistcoats only!
For shame! Whatever next? Gunners shedding their coats in the Service of their Pieces?

Hi Greg,

Nothing like a line of smartly painted infantry figures to inspire others to pick up the paintbrush and have a go! I like the way you've paited these "white" uniforms too.

Best Regards,

Stokes

I like them. The white/blue combination looks great.

It must a "Sharpe" thing with the men choosing something they dislike to practice their firing on!

Quite understandable, given that Alzheim appears (on the E vs E) far further south than one would have imagined -i.e. somewhere on the Cote d'Azur, in the Nice-Monaco area? Only tourists would be 'fada' enough to indulge in any physical (or intellectual, for that matter) activity while heavily dressed. The weather simply forbides it and renders 'siesta' a mere matter of survival!

Dear Jean-Louis,
I thoroughly agree!
Alzheim seems to have a rather geographically mixed provenance, being bordered on one side by the rather Eastern-Orthodox Vulgaria, a character somewhat Saxon and a uniform style that is more than a little French!
Nonetheless, in my mind she hovers somewhere on the south-eastern borders of France.
I think.

Greg

I understand the division of Alzheim was conscious from the start. But do both Alzheim need to be contemporary?
I mean, such division is a form of hindrance, a special source of liability/ vulnerability for the Duchy? Could not (Alt)Alzheim the origin of the ruling line, no longer in its possession, the actual contemporary Duchy of (Neu)Alzhiem being somewhers between Gallia and the Italians States (but, seemingly, with no access to the sea). Rather close & similar to Noverre, though the later appears somewhat more backward and isolated inland....
