Outside the rain beats down, drops snaking unhurried down the pane. It has been a long and wet winter this time around.
I shudder at the sudden chill and reach for the tumbler of Glen Moray and water beside me. It warms me a little, the rich, oily aroma seems everywhere.
Can I do this again? I look to Snook for inspiration, but all I see is him cocking one at Gladstone over 130 years' distance in time and an infinity in understanding.
Featherstone then, and Barthorp. Connoisseur, Willie and a touch of Stadden where I can for the horseflesh. Yes. The old boys will do it. The old gang.
I am stirred a little. There are those old Connoisseur Highlanders in a box somewhere. I think I know where.
Like the waves, I advance a little more with each attempt.
I can do it.

Time to watch the Kordas' 1939 version of "Four Feathers", sir. Yes indeed it is.
And maybe "Khartoum" as well.

There is always time fot Khartoum, Jeff.
Always.
You know if you collected those Willie British and then bucked the trends and bought the matching Boers, the sadly neglected Boers, well you could have a game close to Well's heart, and um, save me from having to do it.....
Funny you should mention that Ross. I just bought a pair of Long Toms from TVAG. I noticed the Boers in th Wargaming in history book on the Second anglo-Boer War, and thought they looked splendid. The Empire troops would do as well for Omdurman as for Colenso, too.
I'm all for more Colonials. Looking forward to your progress on this.
Every once in a while I look for Kordas' Four Feathers, but have yet to find it on dvd.
I've never seen it! Only the modern remake...
Updates will be posted regular-like.
Looking forward to seeing your progress.... if that last picture is anything to go by it's going to be a good looking project!
While I have an older DVD of the Korda film, I see on Amazon Canada there is a new digitally updated version of it in both DVD and Blu-Ray. Here's the link to the Canada DVD:

But check your local Amazon (or equivalent) for a source local to you . . . but at least now you have something specific to look for.

Thanks, Jeff! I just checked and see it's available on amazon US and on Barnes & Noble (cheaper on amazon).
There was another version, starring Beau Bridges and Jane Seymour, made sometime between the Kordas version and the Heath Ledger one. I think it was made for tv, but I could be mistaken. I enjoyed it when I saw back then. But the Kordas one is my favorite.
I believe there are three versions around, too, Fitz.
